What the Final Grade Calculator does
Your course grade is a weighted blend of the work already done and the final exam. Rearranging that relationship tells you exactly what the final must score to land on your target — and whether the target is even reachable.

Worked example
Holding 88% with a final worth 25%, aiming for 90% overall.

Needed = (90 − 88 × 0.75) ÷ 0.25 = (90 − 66) ÷ 0.25 = 96%. Achievable, but it needs a strong paper.
Frequently asked questions
What if I need more than 100%?
The target is mathematically out of reach. Recalculate against the next grade band down, or ask whether any extra credit is available.
Why is my locked-in grade so low?
Because it assumes zero on the final. With a final worth 40% and a current 85%, the floor is 51% — which is what makes heavily weighted finals risky.
