Please note: Grading rules vary by institution, and many schools round, cap or weight differently. Always confirm against your own syllabus or registrar before relying on a result.
What the CGPA Calculator does
CGPA on the 10-point scale is the credit-weighted mean of your semester SGPAs. Converting it to a percentage uses an institution-specific factor — CBSE’s published rule multiplies by 9.5, which is why a 9.0 CGPA maps to 85.5% rather than 90%.
Formula
CGPA = Σ (SGPA × Credits) ÷ Σ CreditsPercentage = CGPA × 9.5 (CBSE indicative rule)CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5

Frequently asked questions
Why multiply by 9.5 and not 10?
It is CBSE’s published rule, derived from the average marks of high scorers across subjects. It is indicative, and other boards and universities use different formulas.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA covers a single semester. CGPA aggregates every semester so far, weighted by credits.
