Salary Calculator

Convert pay between hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual figures.

What the Salary Calculator does

Converting between pay periods requires knowing your hours and working weeks. Note that monthly pay is annual divided by 12, not four weekly payments — there are 4.33 weeks in an average month, which is why 26 fortnightly payments do not equal 24 semi-monthly ones.

Formula

  • Annual = Hourly × Hours per week × Weeks per year
  • Monthly = Annual ÷ 12
  • Hourly = Annual ÷ (Hours per week × Weeks per year)

Frequently asked questions

Should I use 52 weeks or fewer?

Use 52 for salaried roles with paid leave. For contract or hourly work without paid time off, subtract your unpaid weeks.

Why are biweekly and semi-monthly different?

Biweekly pays 26 times a year, semi-monthly pays 24. The biweekly cheque is smaller but you get two extra payments annually.
