What the Class Rank Percentile Calculator does
Class rank counts from the top, while percentile counts the proportion of students below you. They are complements: rank 45 of 500 puts you in the top 9% and at roughly the 91st percentile — the same position described from opposite ends.

Is being 45th of 500 good?
Yes — that is the top 9%, comfortably within the first decile. Universities often treat top-10% standing as a strong signal.
Why are there two percentile figures?
Dividing by class size minus one puts the top student at exactly the 100th percentile; dividing by class size does not. Both conventions are in use, so the calculator reports each.
