Worked example
Born 14 March 1990, counting from 14 August 2026.
- Date of birth
- 1990-03-14
- From
- 2026-08-14
212 days until 14 March 2027, when you turn 37.
Reading the result
- The countdown targets the next anniversary on or after today, so a birthday today shows zero days rather than a full year.
Assumptions and limitations
- Dates use your device’s local time. A birthday is treated as a calendar date, not a moment, so timezones do not shift it.
Common mistakes
- Expecting a 29 February birthday to appear every year. In common years it is observed on 28 February or 1 March depending on local convention, and jurisdictions differ on which.
- Reading the day count as an age. Age in years comes from the age calculator, which handles the calendar borrowing correctly.
Frequently asked questions
What if I was born on 29 February?
In non-leap years the anniversary rolls to 1 March. You still get a birthday every year, just on a nearby date three years in four.
