Unix Timestamp Converter
Convert between Unix timestamps and human-readable dates.
What the Unix Timestamp Converter does
A Unix timestamp is the number of seconds elapsed since midnight UTC on 1 January 1970. It is timezone-independent, which is why it is the standard way to store instants in databases and APIs.
Formula
Timestamp = Seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00ZMilliseconds = Seconds × 1000

Frequently asked questions
Why do some timestamps have 13 digits?
Those are milliseconds rather than seconds. JavaScript uses milliseconds; most other systems use seconds. Divide by 1000 to convert.
What is the Year 2038 problem?
A signed 32-bit integer overflows at 03:14:07 UTC on 19 January 2038. Systems still using 32-bit time will wrap to 1901 unless updated to 64-bit.
