What the Real Estate Commission Calculator does

Agent commission is charged as a percentage of the sale price and is typically split between the listing and buyer agents. It is usually the largest single selling cost, which is why even a one-point reduction matters on a substantial sale.

Formula

  • Total commission = Sale price × Commission rate
  • Listing agent = Total commission × Listing split
  • Net proceeds = Sale price − Commission − Other costs − Mortgage payoff
