What the Fuel Cost Calculator does
Fuel cost is distance divided by efficiency, multiplied by the fuel price. The calculator normalises whatever units you enter, so you can mix miles with litres per 100 km without converting anything yourself.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert mpg to litres per 100 km?
Divide 235.215 by the US mpg figure. For imperial mpg, divide 282.481 instead.
Why is my real consumption worse than the rating?
Official figures come from standardised test cycles. Cold starts, short journeys, air conditioning, roof racks and hard acceleration all push real consumption higher.
